About Bradleys Head

Bradleys Head is located on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, within the Sydney suburb of Mosman, and forms part of the Sydney Harbour National Park.

Besides the breathtaking view (and our wonderful wedding), some interesting things to see at Bradleys Head include:

  • The walking track around Bradleys Head provides an ideal opportunity to view major Sydney icons such as the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Fort Denison while on a gentle stroll in a natural bushland setting.

  • Historic cannons that once defended Sydney are still in place in the Bradleys Head fortifications, which were originally built by convict labourers in 1839.

  • The mast and crows nest of the first HMAS Sydney warship stands at the point of Bradleys Head.  The HMAS Sydney sank the German warship, Emden, off the Cocos Islands during World War I and captured 110 prisoners (the first major naval action of the Royal Australian Navy).

  • The granite pole in the water off Bradley’s Head came from the first General Post Office in Martin Place in 1880.  From this pole to Fort Denison measures exactly 1 nautical mile, and it is the only measurement on Sydney Harbour of its kind.

  • A navigational lighthouse is located just around the point of Bradleys Head.
